    About Merstow Green Funeral Home

    Merstow Green Funeral Home is proud to serve our local community of Evesham and Warndon, providing meticulous service, advice, emotional support and guidance when families need it most since 2008.

    Philip Tomlins is the Principal Funeral Director of Merstow Green Funeral Home and has worked as a funeral director in Evesham since 1987. Philip continues to maintain his vision of placing the emphasis on quality of service, value for money and meeting all the client’s needs. Funeral Directors Kevin Bowen, Martyn Jeynes and Nicola Michaela joined the company in 2015, 2021 and 2024 respectively. Along with Philip they are committed to providing the highest levels of bereavement care in the community.

    In addition to our original Merstow Green Funeral Home in Evesham, we opened a second branch in Warndon in 2024.

    We are proud to be members of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). This means we adhere to their strict codes of practice, so our clients can be assured of receiving the best standards of care and attention. Merstow Green Funeral Home appreciates a reliable and respectful service is paramount for the families we serve. We also offer an affordable prepaid funeral plan, Choice, so that you can arrange and pay for a funeral in advance. This will protect your family from rising costs and remove uncertainty about your wishes. If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, please come and see us in any of our funeral homes, or if you’d rather we can arrange a home visit. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone so if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call your local funeral home.

    Philip Tomlins Dip. FD

    Business Principal

    Philip has worked as a funeral director in Evesham since 1987.

    Working solely at Merstow Green Funeral Home, he continues to maintain his vision of placing the emphasis on quality of service, value for money and meeting all of the client’s needs. Philip’s history and association with the local community he serves, has resulted in an excellent reputation that derives from his desire to provide the best in bereavement care.

    Kevin Bowen

    Senior Funeral Director

    Kevin joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2015, having previously worked as a Funeral Director in Pembrokeshire.
    His father, Stuart, has worked in the funeral industry for over 20 years.

    He says “it’s a real privilege to support families in their time of need. I feel honoured to be part of a team that offers such a professional, caring, and dignified service to all the bereaved families we serve.”

    A keen sportsman, he enjoys playing cricket, golf, football and outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, paddleboarding and hiking.

    Nicola Michaela

    Funeral Director

    Nicola has been working in the funeral business for nearly five years, having previously worked for Dignity but made the move over to Merstow Green in January 2024.
    Nicola feels proud and privileged to be part of such an amazing team whom she has admired for a long time.
    She originally went to college in Evesham back in 1988 and is excited to be back in Evesham working for the community.
    Nicola was a manager at Marks and Spencer and originally worked for Kays Catalogue, but moving into the funeral profession has been the best decision she has made.

    Beverley Donegan

    Funeral Arranger

    I was a business manager for 22 years for a Finance Company.

    I always thought I would like to work in the funeral business so when an opportunity arose in 2017, I applied and was successful.

    I have now been a funeral arranger for 7 years and still love helping people at the most difficult time.

    Outside work, I enjoy camping, especially at music festivals, and spending time with my grandchildren.

    Elaine joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2015 as an Account Administrator.

    She says she enjoys “helping local families at their time of need.”

    In her spare time, she likes gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

    Senior Funeral Operative

    Luke joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2015 as a Funeral Operative, having previously worked in print and design services.

    He says he enjoys “being there for the public.”

    In his spare time, he likes running, weights, kayaking, canoeing and watching movies.

    John Bartlett

    Senior Funeral Operative

    John joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2010 as a Funeral Operative, having previously worked for Auto Sleepers.

    He says he enjoys “being there for the community.”

    In his spare time, he likes going to the gym, hiking, water sports, travelling and shopping.

    Emma Evans

    Funeral Service Operative

    Emma joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in October 2022 after many years working in the community caring for complex/end of life.

    She says “it’s an honour to work as part of a team in the care of both families and the deceased during a very difficult time, showing empathy, trust and passion in the way we work together.”

    In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, dog and walking the countryside in the local area.

    Freda Dudley

    Casual Funeral Service Operative

    Freda joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2024 having previously worked as an Ambulance Technician.

    Freda states she had always wanted to work in the funeral industry after seeing the care and dignity given to her own grandparents when she was young and she strived to one day be able to do the same for others going through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

    In her spare time, she likes to visit National Trust properties up and down the UK with her husband and teenage son and spending time with their 3 dogs and their cat

    Lynne Baker

    Receptionist/Administrator

    Lynne joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in January 2022, having previously worked at Homesmith House in Evesham as well as 8 years’ experience working in the funeral profession.

    She says “I love being part of a truly devoted and caring team for our community.”

    In her spare time, she likes travelling, meeting new people and watching sports.

    Mike Hawkins

    Funeral Operative

    Mike joined Merstow Green Funeral Home in 2016 as a Funeral Operative, having previously worked as a Postman in Statford-upon-Avon.

    He says he enjoys “giving the best possible care to the deceased and their families and working as part of a great team.”

    In 2002, Mike did a solo walk unaided from Lands End to John O’Groats for the Air Ambulance.

    In his spare time, he likes kayaking, cycling and watching football.
